Below is the general outline of the Five Star guarantee. However, the actual guarantee for each dog is on the final contract. The guarantee for a specific puppy may differ from that below. Any differences will be worked out between both parties prior to completion of agreement.

First . . .

We may be able to recommend another breeder or rescue to people who don't want to wait for our next litter, or who are interested in a older dog or one with imperfections. But any recommendation we make does not necessarily carry any warranty or guarantee from Five Star Dobermans. As always, the actual Five Star Dobermans guarantee for a specific dog or puppy is listed on the Five Star Dobermans contract.

Temperament Guarantee

If Buyer judges within the first 6 months that temperament of puppy provided by Five Star Dobermans is not suited for purposes for which it was purchased, a replacement will be provided at no charge except customer pays for all shipping charges to return original puppy and to deliver replacement puppy.
In the case of invocation of a temperament guarantee, Five Star Dobermans requires return of the original animal.
Temperament guarantee extends six months from the date that the customer takes possession of original puppy, and does not apply to replacement puppy.

Health Guarantee

There are two different classes of potential genetic problems for dogs.

First, some diseases are 100% genetic and are reliably identified by a test, such as the albino (Z) gene and Von Willebrand's (affected). Five Star offers a lifetime guarantee that its puppies will be free from diseases or conditions of this class. If your pup has either of these diseases, we will provide another at no charge, not including ear crop or transport. (It won't, because we can be certain it won't.)

Second, many other diseases lack reliable predictive tests, such as cancer, heart disease or hip dysplasia and probably have a significant environmental component. We attempt to reduce the chance of one of our dogs contracting a disease of this type by carefully selecting and matching breeding stock. Though current veterinarian science and the environmental component don't allow us to guarantee that all of our pups will be free from this class of disease, we will give you a 50% discount on the purchase of any future pup, excluding ear crop and transport, if your Five Star pup comes down with such a disease.

Simply provide us the veterinary diagnosis, and we'll have our vet verify the paperwork.

This guarantee is valid through the dog's sixth year. Of course we do not ask you to return the original dog, though you are free to do so at any time for any reason.

Our guarantee does not extend to conditions such as hip laxity which, though they may indicate increased susceptibility to certain diseases, do not in themselves cause pain or threaten the health of the animal. Nor does our guarantee cover conditions such as Vwd carrier which would not have a noticeable effect on the animal's health.
