We love the compliments we hear back from our customers and the compliments we hear when we're out with our Dobermans. But this is all somewhat subjective. "Correct structure" includes aesthetics, muscle, geometry and ratios of structure all of which contribute to or detract from beauty, power, agility and athletic ability. 1) Correct Structure means a Doberman that's powerful and suited for its breed purpose: protection. 2) Correct Structure means a Doberman that's athletic and has stamina 3) Correct Structure means a Doberman that's beautiful
Correct conformation is simply pleasing to the eye. You'll spend time just watching your Five Star Doberman move - trot, play, run - they're poetry in motion!
Additional Notes on Correct Structure
European vs. American Dobes: The European Doberman gene pool tends to provide a more powerful dog, preferred for working competitions. Five Star Dobermans litters include European genetics. Euro-Dobes also tend to have deeper, attractive colors, whether in markings or red Dobes.
Size: Five Star Dobermans breeds for the American standard to avoid dogs that are too large and too powerful for most families, and also avoid the associated shortened life span.
Pedigree: A dog's pedigree is its family tree. A well-titled pedigree has many titles throughout the pedigree. These titles could be in many areas. Although we at Five Star Dobermans focus more on temperament and health, we also value a well-titled pedigree because this may indicate some important factors: 1. A puppy with a well-titled pedigree should have been produced by a breeder or group of breeders that cultivate puppies that are reasonably attractive by current standards (if show titles), or are well trained (if competition titles). However too much emphasis on titles overlooks temperament and health, which are more important for a great active-family dog. 2. A well-titled pedigree shows that the breeders spent time with their dogs. This probably indicates that some training and attention were given to the dogs, both of which are vital for Dobermans. This should produce bitches that pass better traits along to the litter such as confidence and desire for interaction with people. 3. A well-titled pedigree comes from breeders who invest more time and energy to gain the level of breed knowledge expected of a qualified breeder. Showing and competition are excellent ways to invest in a breed that you love. There are many more, especially with the versatile Doberman. At Five Star Dobermans we only work with breeders who devote their lives to bettering the Doberman breed, one dog and one litter at a time, both in and out of the ring. This always involves titles because we've seen the benefits of working toward titles to produce better puppies. And we think you'll be impressed with the results. |
